On Monday, 18 December 18, 11 am, in the Board Room of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (c/ Juan de Quesada, 30. Vegueta), the meeting of the Universities of Northwest Africa and Macaronesia will be held with the objective of establishing a network and intensifying the internationalization of the Northwest Africa area through the global network of partners that the ULPGC has been consolidating.
Representatives of the universities of the Azores, Madeira, Cape Verde, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, the Republic of the Congo, and Senegal, together with the two Canarian public universities (University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and University of La Laguna) will participate in the meeting.
The idea of establishing a Network of Universities of Northwest Africa and Macaronesia (UNWAM) is part of the ULPGC with the objective of the institutions and organizations of the world perceiving this geographical area as an active and truly internationalized academic environment.
The meeting agenda starts at 11 am, with a few words of welcome from the Rector of the ULPGC, Rafael Robaina. Subsequently, the Vice-Rector for Internationalization and Cooperation, Richard Clouet, will say a few words; and at 12:30 the presentation of the initiative to establish the UNWAM Network will take place.
In the afternoon session, the participants will learn about the International Relations Cabinet and the internationalization strategy of the ULPGC, as well as the University Center for International Development Cooperation – CUCID of the ULPGC.
On Tuesday the 19th, the meetings will continue at Casa Africa, where they will be held at 10:30 am, and at the Technological Marine Science Park of Taliarte, which will run from 12:30 pm.
